Creating a Management Plan for the future

The HSWCD is in the process of updating and expanding the original management document written for the HDF. The 1992 Forest Framework Plan (FFP) outlined the overall goals and objectives for the HDF and set the procedures for activities within, and uses of, the Forest. It identifies as necessary but does not include any specific provisions for:

- collecting or managing natural resource data,

- monitoring experimental plantings, forest conditions or resource changes over time,

- maintaining and improving the interpretive trail.

The intent of updating the HDF management plan is to make these goals and objectives written into the FFP a reality. In updating the plan we hope to develop an integrated natural resource management system that allows for timely implementation of the projects deemed appropriate by the HDF Steering Committee.
